Granular synthesis at its core means working with tiny fragments of audio — grains — and layering, repositioning, and modulating them to create sounds that bear little resemblance to the source material. Quanta 2 gives you precise control over how those grains behave: up to 100 simultaneous grains per voice, each lasting up to 1000ms, with independent control over rate, pitch, direction, shape, and length.

Core Synthesis Engine

Drag and drop any WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, or Ogg file onto the granular engine and start working immediately. The grain engine is complemented by a sidecar oscillator with virtual-analog modeling and a noise generator that can be mixed directly into the grain output — so you’re not locked into purely granular textures.

Dual multi-mode filters (lowpass, highpass, bandpass, notch in 2-pole and 4-pole modes) handle subtractive shaping after the grain stage, making Quanta 2 a full synthesis environment rather than just a granular processor.

Modulation

Four Flexible Envelope Generators, each with up to 99 looping points and optional tempo sync. Two LFOs with custom wave shaping. A sample-and-hold module for random modulation sources. All of these route through a streamlined modulation matrix where nearly any control maps to any destination.

Expression and Tuning

Full MPE support for Seaboard, Linnstrument, Soundplane, and any other MPE controller. TUN file compatibility for custom alternate tunings.
